Blog Taxonomy: tags and categories synced across every CMS

Extracts, suggests, and syncs tags and categories for blog posts across WordPress, Shopify, Ghost, Strapi, and Sanity. It generates tag suggestions from content analysis, enforces minimum post-count thresholds, and audits taxonomy health.

VIEW ON GITHUBHOW IT WORKS

What the Blog Taxonomy skill actually is?

A taxonomy manager that suggests, syncs, and audits tags across five CMS platforms

The Blog Taxonomy skill manages tags, categories, and topic clusters across CMS platforms through three commands: suggest extracts candidate tags from content, sync pushes taxonomy to a CMS via authenticated API, and audit checks for thin tags, orphans, and bloat.

Suggestions come from real content analysis, not guesswork. It parses H2 and H3 headings, bold and italic phrases, and existing frontmatter, runs frequency analysis with occurrence thresholds, groups synonyms and singular/plural variants, deduplicates with Levenshtein fuzzy matching, then scores each candidate to return a ranked top 5 to 10.

It ships adapters for WordPress, Shopify, Ghost, Strapi, and Sanity, each with the right API type and auth method. Credentials are read at runtime from CMS_TYPE, CMS_URL, and CMS_API_KEY environment variables, never stored in files or committed to version control.

When it Triggers?

The skill activates on phrases like "tags", "categories", "taxonomy", "tag suggestions", "sync tags", "WordPress tags", or "Shopify tags". You point it at a file for suggestions, a CMS for sync, or a directory for an audit.

Sync and audit against a live CMS require the CMS_TYPE, CMS_URL, and CMS_API_KEY environment variables. If any is unset the skill reports which one is missing and the expected format, and on a 401 or 403 it reports an authentication failure without retrying.

What the taxonomy engine does

From scored tag suggestions to a full health audit

01

Content-driven tag suggestions

Parses headings, emphasis, and frontmatter, runs frequency analysis where one-word terms need 4+ occurrences and three-word phrases need 2+, groups synonyms and variants, and scores each candidate to rank the top 5 to 10.

02

Five CMS adapters

Syncs taxonomy to WordPress REST (Application Passwords), Shopify GraphQL Admin API (string-array tags), Ghost Admin API (JWT signing), Strapi REST or GraphQL (Bearer token), and Sanity GROQ mutations, each handling its own tag model and pagination.

03

Taxonomy health audit

Inventories every tag and category, then runs health checks: thin archives under 5 posts, orphan tags with 0 posts, bloat over 50 tags, category depth over 3 levels, uncategorized posts, and duplicate slugs, grouped by priority from Critical to Low.

04

Site-wide guidelines

Enforces durable taxonomy hygiene: 5 to 10 main categories per site, tags needing at least 5 posts before an archive page, lowercase hyphen-separated slugs, exactly 1 primary category per post, and 3 to 8 tags per post never exceeding 15.

Up and Running in 3 Steps

No dashboard, no config files, no API keys. Clone the repo, open Claude Code, and the skill is live.

01

Clone the Repo

$git clone https://github.com/Infrasity-Labs/dev-gtm-claude-skills.git

One shallow clone. No history overhead, the repo stays lean and installs fast.

02

Open Claude Code

$cd dev-gtm-claude-skills && claude

Enter the directory and launch Claude Code. Every skill loads automatically from CLAUDE.md.

03

Run a Skill

>/blog taxonomy [suggest|sync|audit] <file-or-cms>

Type the trigger inside Claude Code. The skill takes it from there and delivers your output.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about installing and running these Claude Skills.

Five: WordPress via the REST API with Application Passwords, Shopify via the GraphQL Admin API, Ghost via its Admin API with JWT signing, Strapi via REST or GraphQL with a Bearer token, and Sanity via GROQ queries and the Mutations API. Each adapter handles that platform's tag model, whether tags are first-class entities or string arrays.
It parses headings, bold and italic phrases, and existing frontmatter, then runs frequency analysis where one-word terms need at least 4 occurrences, two-word phrases 3, and three-word phrases 2. It groups synonyms and variants, deduplicates with Levenshtein fuzzy matching, and scores each candidate by frequency, heading presence, and emphasis to rank the top 5 to 10.
It inventories all tags and categories, then flags thin tag archives under 5 posts, orphan tags with 0 posts, tag bloat over 50 total tags, category depth beyond 3 levels, uncategorized posts, and duplicate slugs. Findings are grouped by priority from Critical for empty archive pages down to Low for naming inconsistencies.
The skill reads CMS_TYPE, CMS_URL, and CMS_API_KEY from the shell environment at runtime. Credentials are never stored in files or committed to version control. If a variable is missing it reports which one and the expected format; on a 401 or 403 it reports an authentication failure and does not retry.
Aim for 5 to 10 main categories per site, give a tag at least 5 posts before creating an archive page, use lowercase hyphen-separated slugs consistently, assign exactly 1 primary category to every post, and keep tags per post between 3 and 8, never exceeding 15. These rules prevent thin archives and taxonomy dilution that weaken SEO signals.
Missing environment variables are reported with the expected format. Invalid credentials stop without retrying. Connection timeouts suggest checking CMS_URL. Duplicate tag slugs are skipped with a note. On a 429 rate limit it waits and retries once, and an unsupported CMS_TYPE lists the valid options and exits.
