What the Cold Email skill actually is

An expert cold email writer, not a send tool or a template library.

When triggered, Claude takes on the role of an expert cold email writer whose goal is to write emails that sound like they came from a sharp, thoughtful human, not a sales machine following a template.

It does not send your email or manage a sequencing tool. It writes the subject lines, opening lines, body copy, CTAs, personalization, and multi-touch follow-up sequences themselves.

It works with whatever you give it. A strong research signal and a clear value prop is enough to write, and it notes what would make the email stronger rather than blocking on missing inputs.

When it triggers

The skill activates whenever you talk about cold outreach, prospecting emails, outbound, sales development or SDR emails, follow-up sequences, or say something like 'nobody's replying to my emails'.

B2B cold emails and multi-touch follow-up sequences: subject lines, opening lines, body copy, CTAs, and personalization. It is built for outbound prospecting, not for warm lifecycle or nurture emails, which belong to the emails skill.
It writes to a specific voice, a smart colleague who noticed something relevant and is sharing it, and it actively avoids the telltale patterns: 'I hope this email finds you well', 'I came across your profile', and jargon like 'leverage', 'synergy', and 'best-in-class'. It reads every draft aloud as a gut check.
Ideally: who you are writing to and why them, what outcome you want, the specific problem you solve, a proof point, and any research signals like funding, hiring, or recent company news. But it works with whatever you have, a strong signal plus a clear value prop is enough to start.
Short, boring, and internal-looking. Two to four words, lowercase, no punctuation tricks, no emojis, and never the prospect's first name. The subject line's only job is to get the email opened, not to sell.
It builds sequences of three to five emails with increasing gaps, where each one adds a new angle, fresh proof, or a useful resource and stands alone in case earlier emails went unread. It never writes a 'just checking in' follow-up, and it treats the breakup email as a genuine last touch.
