An orphan page is a page that no other page on your site links to. Because it has no incoming internal links, search engine crawlers may never find it, and it won't pass or receive any link equity, making it effectively invisible to both users and Google.

Internal linking is the practice of linking from one page on your site to another. It helps search engines understand your site structure, distributes link equity, and guides readers to related content.

It discovers all your blog and content pages, identifies which ones have no incoming internal links, fetches their keywords and traffic data, clusters them by topic, and generates 3 specific linking suggestions per orphan page, delivered as an interactive HTML report.

It first discovers all your content URLs from your sitemap, then queries Ahrefs site-wide to find which pages receive at least one internal link. Any page not appearing in that result is flagged as an orphan.

Suggestions are topically justified: the skill clusters orphan pages by topic and only recommends source pages that genuinely cover related subject matter. Generic suggestions like linking from your homepage are never used unless the homepage is topically relevant.
